Toulouse, France (May 25, 2018) – UWINLOC is proud to announce a new signed partnership with LAAS-CNRS, a worldwide renowned research consortium with leading expertise in antenna miniaturization and ultra-low power embedded systems. The collaboration is partly financed by the Occitanie Region and structured to strengthen the regional ecosystem expertise and industries.

This scientific partnership with LAAS-CNRS will kick-off the exchange and transfer of valued know-how to UWINLOC’s industrial solution. To start, both entities will work together in a common lab with shared equipment and resources to improve UWINLOC’s business offerings and apply LAAS-CNRS advanced research to challenging industrial use cases. Such local lab accelerates the region’s position for the race of becoming one of France’s most innovative regions.

Contributing expertise to the region, LAAS-CNRS is also one of the world’s leading experts in the field of antenna design and energy harvesting, working with large multinational companies in Aerospace and Automotive industries such as AIRBUS, THALES and CONTINENTAL as well as top-ranking Engineering academic institutions. The objective of their shared expertise is to tag millions of objects of smaller sizes worldwide while reducing tag production costs. To add, the collaboration gives UWINLOC an opportunity to deliver a ‘labeled’ quality product that will enhance system performances and differentiate themselves current actors in the market.

The innovation behind the antenna design will scale up their mass deployments internationally. “This partnership is extremely innovative; together with LAAS-CNRS’ valued expertise in embedded system technology and resources, we will completely change the market offer to becoming a new international standard, leading the region in becoming the champions of indoor location worldwide,” adds Patrick Chan, Product Director of UWINLOC.

Concretely, today, UWINLOC provides the first robust battery-less tag for Manufacturing and Logistics sectors to track objects at 30 centimeter precision and respond to productivity pain points as well as improved Supply Chain visibility.
